Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Homilia (homiliadesk.com) is a sermon-preparation workspace operated by Alexandre Teixeira Vieira, an individual based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In this policy, “I” and “Homilia” refer to the operator, Alexandre Teixeira Vieira.
The short version: your studies, ideas, outlines, and sermons are yours. I use them only to run Homilia for you. I do not sell them, I do not use them for advertising, and the AI provider I use is not permitted to train its models on them.
1. What I collect
- Account details: your name, your email address, and your password (stored only in scrambled form by the sign-in system, so I cannot read it). You may also choose your preferred language, the day you usually preach, and the name or title you would like Homilion to use for you.
- Your work: the sermon dates, titles, and passage references you add; the notes, ideas, outlines, and sermon documents you write in Homilia; the exegetical studies compiled from your notes; and your conversations with Homilion.
- Your marks: the highlights, underlines and short notes you add to Bible text and to reference works. They are private to you, kept in your account, included in the full data export, and deleted with your account. They are never sent to Homilion or any other AI feature.
- Access records: when your access started, when your access ends, your Homilion allowance, any access code you redeem, and unsuccessful code attempts (kept to prevent abuse).
- Usage records: how often you use Homilion and how much text each request involves, counted only as numbers, never as content. I use these to apply usage limits and the Homilion allowance, and to control costs.
- Billing records: if you subscribe, Homilia stores your subscription status, your plan, your billing period dates, the identifiers Paddle uses for you and your subscription, and a record of the payment notices Paddle sends. Homilia never receives or stores your card number.
- Technical information: error reports, and basic visitor statistics from the hosting platform (pages viewed, device type, approximate country). Like any website, the hosting infrastructure also receives your IP address and browser details when you visit.
Payments are handled by Paddle (see section 5), so I never see or store your card number. I do not ask for government identification numbers.
2. Writing about your congregation
Write freely about your congregation and what they are facing. Sermons and studies can reveal religious beliefs, and pastoral notes can involve people who never agreed to be in a document. So please leave out names and details that would identify someone, and anything shared with you in confidence during pastoral care. Homilion does not need them to help you, and what you never enter is never stored or sent anywhere.
3. How I use your information
- To provide Homilia: save your work, show it back to you, let Homilion read and respond to it, compile your studies, and let you export.
- To create and secure your account, and to send account emails such as confirmation and password reset.
- To apply the access, access-code, allowance, and usage rules, and to prevent abuse of them.
- To manage your subscription, apply the access and allowance of your plan, and keep billing and tax records.
- To find and fix problems. Automated checks of the AI run on a fixed sample sermon, never on your work.
I do not routinely read your studies, sermons, or conversations. I may look at specific content only if you ask me to help with a problem, if it is necessary to keep the service secure, or if the law requires it. I do not use your work to train AI models or to build advertising profiles, and I will email you only about your account and the service unless you agree to more.
4. How the AI works with your text
When you talk to Homilion, or use another AI feature such as compiling a study, Homilia sends the relevant parts of your work and your message to Anthropic, the company that provides the AI model, through its commercial service. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, that content is not used to train its models and is deleted from its systems within 30 days, except where Anthropic must keep it to comply with the law or to enforce its usage policy. Homilia does not send your work to any other AI provider.
Anthropic processes this content on servers that may be outside Canada, including in the United States.
5. Who else handles your information
I rely on a small number of service providers, who handle information only to provide their service to me:
- Anthropic generates Homilion’s responses, as described above.
- Paddle (Paddle.com), the merchant of record for Homilia orders, receives the personal data needed for payments, tax calculation and collection, invoicing, and fraud prevention, such as your name, email address, country, and payment details. See Paddle’s privacy notice.
- Lovable and its cloud infrastructure build and host Homilia, store your account and work in a database, and run sign-in.
- An email delivery service sends account emails from notify.homiliadesk.com.
- An email forwarding service delivers messages sent to Homilia’s contact address to my inbox.
- Google Fonts: Homilia’s pages and emails load fonts from Google, so your browser or email app contacts Google’s servers, and Google can see your IP address.
6. Sharing and disclosure
I do not sell or rent your personal information. I may disclose it if the law requires, or to protect the rights and safety of users or others.
7. Where your information is stored
I operate Homilia from Canada. My service providers may store and process information in other countries, including the United States, where local laws apply and courts or authorities may be able to request access. By using Homilia, you understand that your information may be transferred and stored outside your country. To get written information about my policies and practices for service providers outside Canada, or to ask how they collect, use, disclose or store your information, email me, Alexandre Teixeira Vieira, the operator of Homilia, at privacy@homiliadesk.com.
8. How long I keep it
- While your account is open, I keep your account details and your work so you can keep using them.
- If your access ends, your work stays in your account to read, export, and delete, but it can no longer be edited: the drawers and the manuscript become read-only and Homilion pauses. If your Homilion allowance is used up while your access is still active, only Homilion pauses and you can keep editing.
- You can delete your account yourself at any time in Account settings. This immediately deletes your account, your work, and your conversations. Backup copies are overwritten on my providers’ regular schedule. Usage and access records tied to you are deleted at the same time. Deleting your account also cancels any running subscription immediately. Content that was already sent to Anthropic to answer you follows Anthropic’s retention terms described above: it is not used to train its models and is deleted within 30 days, except where Anthropic must keep it to comply with the law or to enforce its usage policy.
- Billing and tax records, such as subscription and payment records, are kept for as long as tax law requires (6 years in Canada), even if you delete your account.
- Error logs and aggregate statistics that do not identify you may be kept longer.
9. Your rights and choices
You can ask me for a copy of your personal information, ask me to correct or delete it, and withdraw any consent you gave. You can already export your sermons and studies as Word or PDF files inside Homilia, and edit or delete individual sermons there. A full export of your work, as Word files plus a data backup, is also available in Account settings. You can delete your whole account yourself in Account settings, or email me at privacy@homiliadesk.com and I will reply within 30 days.
If you are in Canada and have a concern I have not resolved, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
10. Users in Brazil
If you are in Brazil, Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD) also applies. I am the controller of your data, and you have the rights the LGPD provides, including confirmation that I process your data, access, correction, anonymization or deletion, portability, information about who receives your data, and withdrawal of consent. I process your information to perform the agreement with you, to keep Homilia secure (a legitimate interest), to keep billing and tax records (a legal obligation), and, where required, with your consent. You may also complain to Brazil’s data protection authority (ANPD). You can reach me at privacy@homiliadesk.com.
11. Security
I use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and account-based access controls that keep each person’s work separate from everyone else’s. No online service is perfectly secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information in a way that puts you at real risk, I will tell you.
12. Cookies and browser storage
Homilia stores small pieces of data in your browser only for essentials: keeping you signed in and remembering your language, appearance, and view settings. I do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
13. Children
Homilia is for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and I do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please email privacy@homiliadesk.com.
14. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy as Homilia grows, for example when I change plans or features. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes, I will notify you by email or inside Homilia.
15. Contact
