Terms of Use

Last updated: October 17, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of Homilia (homiliadesk.com), a workspace for preparing sermons with an AI companion called Homilion. Homilia is operated and sold by Alexandre Teixeira Vieira, an individual based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, trading as Homilia (“I” or “Homilia”). When you use Homilia or subscribe, you are contracting with me.

By creating an account or using Homilia, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Homilia. Features and limits may change over time.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use Homilia.
  • Give accurate information when you sign up and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell me at support@homiliadesk.com if you think someone else has gained access.
  • One account is for one person. Please do not share it.

2. Access, subscription, and payment

Free access. New accounts receive free access for a limited period, currently 14 days, with no payment card required.

Tester and access codes. I may give tester or access codes to specific people. A code gives access for the period attached to it. Codes are personal, cannot be resold or transferred, and may expire or be withdrawn if they are abused.

The plans. To keep using Homilia beyond free or code access, you can subscribe to the Homilia monthly plan or the Homilia yearly plan (currently US$199 a year). Subscribing is always your own choice: nothing is ever charged unless you choose to subscribe, and free access never turns into a paid plan by itself. The price is shown on the Subscribe button and at checkout before you pay, plus any applicable taxes. The monthly plan renews each month and the yearly plan renews each year, until you cancel.

Homilion allowance. The plan includes a fair-use monthly allowance for Homilion that renews every month, on both the monthly and the yearly plan, and does not roll over. Free and code access include their own allowance. Homilion also has daily usage limits, which protect the service and its cost. If your allowance is used up while your access is still active, only Homilion pauses: you can keep editing in the drawers and the manuscript until the allowance renews.

When access ends. If your access ends, for example because free access or a code has ended, or a subscription has ended or lapsed, your work stays in your account and you can still read, export, and delete it, but you cannot edit it: the drawers and the manuscript become read-only and Homilion is paused. Subscribing or entering a valid code restores editing.

Canceling. You can cancel at any time through “Manage subscription” in Account settings. After you cancel, no further charges are made. Your access and Homilion continue until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Price changes. If the price of a plan changes, I will tell existing subscribers by email before the new price applies to their next renewal. You can cancel before that renewal if you do not want to continue at the new price.

Refunds. The first payment of a subscription is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. To use it, write to support@homiliadesk.com first; please do not use Paddle’s own refund page for this guarantee. After those 30 days, payments are not refundable except where the law requires otherwise. Canceling stops future charges but does not by itself refund a payment. See the Refund Policy for how to request a refund.

Paddle. Orders are processed by Paddle, the merchant of record, which handles payment, tax, and invoices. The seller is Alexandre Teixeira Vieira, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, trading as Homilia. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, and tax are also governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Your billing records, such as receipts and invoices, are handled by Paddle, and you can see them through “Manage subscription”.

3. Your content

You own the studies, notes, outlines, sermons, and other material you put into Homilia (“Your Content”). I claim no ownership of what you preach.

You give me a limited permission to store, process, and display Your Content, and to send the relevant parts to the AI provider, solely to run Homilia for you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from short-lived backup copies.

You are responsible for Your Content. Please make sure you have the right to use what you enter. Write freely about your congregation, but leave out details that would identify someone and anything shared with you in confidence during pastoral care. See the Privacy Policy.

Homilion’s responses and the studies it compiles are provided for your use. I claim no ownership of them and, as far as the law allows, you may use them as you wish. Because AI-generated text can be similar for different users, I cannot promise that it is unique.

4. Homilion is an AI and can be wrong

Homilion can make mistakes, including about Greek, Hebrew, history, Bible references, and quotations. Always check what it says against the biblical text and reliable sources.

Bible data. The Greek and Hebrew texts, lexicon definitions, word meanings, names and places in Homilia come from open sources, listed on the Credits page. They may contain errors. Always check the text yourself before you preach or publish.

Homilion is a soundboard for your own thinking. It is not a substitute for your own study, your pastoral judgment, or the advice of a qualified professional. You alone are responsible for what you preach or publish, including its accuracy and the proper attribution of other people’s work.

5. Acceptable use

When using Homilia, you agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe someone else’s rights;
  • try to access another person’s data, or probe, disrupt, or bypass the security of Homilia;
  • use scripts or bots, work around usage limits, or abuse the free access, the Homilion allowance, or access codes, for example by opening several accounts;
  • copy, extract, or reverse engineer Homilion’s instructions or Homilia’s software;
  • resell Homilia or give others access through your account; or
  • use Homilia in a way that violates the usage policy of Anthropic, the AI provider, whose service processes what you send to Homilion.

6. Intellectual property

Homilia, its software, design and wording, Homilion and its instructions, and the names Homilia and Homilion belong to me, Alexandre Teixeira Vieira, or to my licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of them to you.

While your access is active, you have a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use Homilia for your own preaching, teaching and study.

What you write and upload stays yours, as explained in section 3 (Your content).

Along with the rules in section 5, you may not:

  • copy, scrape or resell Homilia or its content;
  • use bots or other automated access beyond normal use;
  • reverse engineer or decompile Homilia, or try to extract its source code or Homilion’s instructions or prompts;
  • share one account among several people; or
  • use the Homilia or Homilion names or logo without my written permission.

If you send me feedback, I may use it freely without owing you anything. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

Open-licensed material. The open-licensed material listed on the Credits page remains available under its own license. Nothing in these Terms, including the rules against copying and scraping, limits the rights that license gives you.

7. Availability and changes

Homilia is provided as it is available. It may be interrupted, and I may change or remove features. Although I take reasonable steps to protect your work, I recommend that you export and keep your own copies of anything important. If I ever plan to close Homilia, I will give reasonable notice and time to export your work.

8. Ending your access

You can stop using Homilia and delete your account at any time in Account settings, or ask me to do it by emailing privacy@homiliadesk.com. I may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, abuse the service, or if I must do so by law. Where reasonable, I will tell you first and give you a chance to export your work. If you delete your account while subscribed, your subscription is canceled immediately and no further charges are made; deleting the account does not by itself refund a payment.

9. No warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, Homilia and Homilion are provided “as is” and “as available,” without promises about accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived, including consumer-protection rights where you live.

10. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits, or reputation, arising from your use of Homilia. My total liability for any claim relating to Homilia is limited to the greater of the amount you paid me in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $100. This does not limit liability that the law does not allow me to limit.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Courts in Alberta have jurisdiction, but this does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law where you live, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

12. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms, for example when I change plans or features. I will tell you about material changes by email or inside Homilia before they take effect. If you keep using Homilia after the change, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using Homilia and delete your account in Account settings, or ask me to do it.

13. General

These Terms, the Refund Policy, and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about Homilia. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If I do not enforce a term right away, I have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; I may transfer mine, for example if Homilia is operated by a company in the future. Homilia is available in English and Portuguese. The two versions are meant to say the same thing. If they differ, the English version prevails, except where local law requires otherwise.
